In to my bed I now shall go,
Though work tomorrow makes me frown,
Around my bed; traps placed just so,
Lest I be eaten by a clown.

Our Lady of the Ashes
Monday 23rd March 2009 11:34 pm
She came; an anointed force of decimation,
Clothed in the words of dead stars,
Reaching out for shelter.
Her hand, offered as an apple,
A jealous step-heart.
Burnt basilicas in her wake,
“These ruins”, she spoke,
“Build for me a beacon upon the burnt earth.”
“No good deed goes unpunished.”

This is the first thing I have written, and completed, and not given up on since 2006. I don’t know why now, a few things just slotted together and it was written. I will decide whether I like it tomorrow. It may disappear.
This attempt at a first draft of poetry is in no way about crazy American clown people. This is a disclaimer that needed to be added to discourage unwarranted and undeserved paranoia.
