As this decade ends, so does my laptop…
I got home after spending christmas with family, unpacked and set up the laptop and suddenly it is having issues with the concept of electricity.
I thought I’d end up with a dead laptop tomorrow before a visit to the Apple Store in Leicester on Saturday to buy a new MacBook Pro but I seem to be able to persuade it to work off the cable if I give it a really hard shove but it won’t charge at the moment. I did also get it charging earlier.
But very soon this laptop (the very first 17″ MacBook Pro released by Apple) is going to be little more than an aluminium doorstop, replaced by a shiny, new and much smaller 13″ MacBook Pro. I was hoping to hold on until the next upgrade to the line but it seems this is not going to happen now. It may not even make it until Saturday if the power stops working again on it.
Back to the decade.
I started the decade in a severe case of self-destruct, which continued for the following few years and I didn’t really recover from it until 2008, when I got my life back in a decent state. Since then, despite a few knocks, everything is improving.
So, I’ll consider this decade as close to a success as I’m ever going to get and hope the next ten years are like the last two.
Not sure if I am taking this blog with me in to 2010 yet, I probably will but I might decide not to. I have a few other decisions to make.
[Edit: It seems the power socket has burnt a little. It has gone black. I think we can safely assume that this laptop is in its last hour(s) of life... Farewell, Internet! Until Saturday when I can go to the Apple Store for a new MacBook Pro.]
